A very successful family owned business with a commercial location in Manistee, MI asked us to transform their office space to be more inviting. We had recently transformed their home’s landscaping and outdoor space a year prior, and they were ready to make the same transformation for their business location.
Where We Started
They had the same landscaping for about 20 years. Some of the trees and plants were withered and dying. So they knew the space needed freshening up. A goal for the new landscaping was to mirror the exponential growth their business has had over the years. It needed to be something simple and clean, but beautiful to look at. When clients stop at the shop, they should feel welcome by the inviting and blooming plants.
Design & Process
Our team first began with a design for the space. Planting beds were planned to run along the whole side of the building, extending past the previous existing layout.
The retaining wall and large utility box in the middle of the yard were something to draw attention away from, and we planned to hide the rough edges with taller plants. We also extened the landscaping to the customer parking area & around the employee patio area. We went over the layout and made revisions until our clients were in love with the design. Once it was approved, and budget details were finalized, our team was ready to transform!
Planning Stages
When we start a project we often divide it into individual work areas. This is often done when a project is completed in parts rather than as a whole. For this project our client ultimately decided it would be better to complete it at once. Below we'll go into more detail about how we completed this project from start to finish!
Landscaping
The landscaping needed a completely new renovation. Since the plants and beds were in place for 20 years it was important to start fresh. From the plants, to the stone, and weed barrier, everything was ripped out to allow for a blank slate!
Sodding
After the main planting beds were installed with drip irrigation, aluminum edging, and fresh mulch. We moved on to SOD the rest of the work area, and finalize the landscaping, leaving the space seamless.

Employees and clients now have beautiful greenery to greet them when they make their way into Dr Shrink's!
